Stories are ultimately what connect us – be that the stories we tell, we watch on Netflix or the stories around work, our heritage, the game on the weekend or more deeper personal stories.

And, it is in these stories that we connect with each other, the depth of which is ultimately up to us to determine. Sadly, though, many of our stories and our connections tend to remain on the surface and offer therefore little meaningful connection…

We all live in challenging times, and no I am not talking about the challenges of what’s on the news and has been for months, Covid and all. But, the mere fact that essentially, we are all just doing our best to live the best life and version of ourselves, and regardless at times we may not be ok.
With our picture-perfect lives portrayed on social media, the lingering concept that it is not ok not to be ok and one of the biggest issues our society faces – isolation and loneliness, how can we actually speak our truth when asked ‘How are you?’

Me, Myself and I

I recall hearing that Joan Armatrading song with the same title for the first time back when migrating out to Australia in the late 80’s, and I have to say, I did not get it. Honestly, I was much more into Tracey Chapman tracks at the time, but what stood out to me then, in me not getting it, came to me later, much later.

Really, nothing matters more than the relationship with yourself. And, once you get this, you will truly appreciate time with yourself for the first time. And then some more…
